If you have felt the pain of standing in
long queues of check-in counters of airlines at the airports, you would have
prayed for getting some solution to this nightmare. This was the situation when
the online methods were not yet explored fully for use in aviation sector in
general and for easing the check-in process at the airports. The last few
decades have seen a marked change in the adoption of technology for air travel.
Indian carriers too have adopted modern web-based modes of searching for
flights, making flight reservations, seeking refunds, airing their grievances
and using these for checking-in process. Indigo, the premier carried of India,
also provides internet-based services for providing hassles-free services to
its passengers. Web check in is one of these areas where internet technology
has helped in saving time of passengers and preventing long queues at airports.
So, how do we use the web check in Indigo airlines services?
If you are booking the tickets directly on
Indigo website or through its mobile application, you will be checked in
automatically. If, however, you have booked ticket with some agency and perform
check in at a later stage, this facility is open 48 hours till 2 hours before
the departure of flight. Indigo provides this service for its direct and
domestic flights. International passengers do not have this facility.
The process is rather simple. You will have
to visit the website of Indigo airlines book.goindigo.in or download the mobile
application. You will find the tab of Check-in in main navigation. On clicking
it, you will be asked to provide booking reference number (which could be the
PNR or the e-ticket number) and email ID or last name. This will take you to
the next step of accepting terms and conditions and then on to make a choice of
seats, meals and excess baggage or avail of any special service that you need.
Once you have made these choices, you will be shown the boarding pass for
verification of all details. At this stage, you shall carefully verify all the
details you have entered. If you find anything wrong, then you can always go
back and make amends before proceeding to the next step. Once satisfied with
all details, you shall move forward to the next step of getting the boarding
pass into your email ID. These steps complete the Indigo web check inprocess for domestic flights.
The boarding pass which you get in your
email shall be taken in printed form at the airport along with other original
travel documents and photocopies of credit or debit cards used to make payments
for flight booking. These documents are required at security clearance stage.
If boarding pass is not taken in printed form, you will have to pay at airport
for print-out and be in regular check-in line of airline at the airport
counter. Thus, you shall not miss to take the print-out of boarding pass.
